My mom made this super awesome soup last week! She’d bought several different kinds of flavored soba including ume (plum), tamago (egg) and some green one I think was shisho leaf, but I’m not totally sure.
So my sisters and I got to choose a flavor of soba to go with a really nice, light mushroom and fish soup. I chose tamago! Om nom noms!!
Another day of eating! Some of my old classmates and I were supposed to go back to our old junior college to say goodbye to our former economics tutor who is leaving to retire in France. But, as these things go, miscommunication meant that he wasn’t actually in school on that day.
Wasn’t totally a wash though. Managed to see HZ, whom I haven’t seen in AGES! IL had a car, so he sent HZ to work, then we had prata at the Jalan kayu stall at novena. Quite nice, actually. Then we met F for lunch at Original Sin. Their lunch menus are pretty decent. $27++ gets you a juice/ smoothie, main course from a limited menu and dessert+ coffee/tea. Even IL was happy, and he completely hates the idea of vegetarian food. ^.^
I was convinced that this wee thing was an actual leaf until I got a closer look at it. Isn’t it incredible?!
I also need to mend my boots.
We didn’t have brunch out last week because we were all pretty busy, and my youngest sister had exams, so my mom was awesome and made us breakfasts!
We had this on Wednesday. I had French toast, a hashbrown, orange carrot juice, cherry yoghurt. My mom makes us all individual plates cos we all like different things : )
On Friday, I contributed to breakfast by making scrambled eggs. My scrambled eggs are pretty good, even if I do say so myself : ) my mom made waffles and fresh pomegranate juice which we ate with mixed mango yogurt with bananas, kiwis and fresh mangoes. Totally yum!!
Recently, I went to watch Columbiana with an old colleague, K. I actually thought it was going to be awesome, so I was a bit disappointed. It was good though, for a simple action flick. The young Cataleya was fantastic though. Hope to see more of her in the future. Also, it’s kind of nice to see Zoe Saldana making it big. More women of colour onscreen is always good. And I will always remember her as possibly the only good thing about that terrible 90s movie Centrestage. Her dance training does show as well, because it is actually much more believable to watch her slink around and squeeze into tiny spaces as compared to anyone else. Angelina Jolie would not be able to do it. She seems to be playing pretty much the same roles these days. But then again what do I know? I haven’t watched a film with either her or Brad Pitt since they cheated on Jennifer Aniston. Seriously that is just wrong, ok. Have some class.
